Model ZCDWL
2-Zone Wireless Automatic Comfort Control for Aftermarket
Provides a Balanced, Comfortable Home and Energy Savings at About Half the Cost and an Easier Installation
Wireless
No Bypass
Uses Existing Thermostat
Comfort & Energy Savings
Works with the existing thermostat. While the thermostat controls the activation of heating and cooling calls, the ZCDWL 2-Zone Control automatically controls the distribution of heating and cooling based on the zone temperatures to provide whole home comfort and energy savings.
No new wiring in the living space.
Installs in as little as 2 hours.
Works with the existing Smart Thermostat, OEM Thermostat or simple 24VAC Thermostat.
Eliminates bypass damper and duct.
Eliminates separate 24VAC transformer.
Eliminates DAT sensor.
Eliminates zoning panel.
Eliminates second thermostat.
Typical Installation
A typical installation includes two round R80CJ or rectangular RT80CJ Modulating Plug&Play Dampers installed in the trunks feeding the upstairs and downstairs zones. Additional dampers can be installed to define the zones if needed.
The DC3M Wireless Damper Control is installed near the equipment and wires to gas/electric equipment terminals W and Y or heat pump equipment terminals Y, O or B, and E to monitor the equipment for heating and cooling calls. The DC3M is powered by a plugin 24VAC adapter. The dampers connect to the DC3M using the included plug&play cables.
The TSWL Wireless Temperature Sensor is installed in the upstairs zone, is battery powered and requires no wiring.
The ZCDWL Wireless 2-Zone Control is installed in the downstairs zone, is battery powered and requires no wiring. The ZCDWL is compatible with the existing Smart, OEM or simple 24VAC thermostat. Alternately, the ZCDWL can be installed in the upstairs zone and the sensor installed in the downstairs zone.
How It Works
While the thermostat controls the HVAC equipment and the temperature in the home, the ZCDWL monitors the equipment for heating and cooling calls and monitors the downstairs temperature at its location and the upstairs temperature at the sensor.
If the upstairs and downstairs temperatures differ by 2 degrees or more, the ZCDWL automatically distributes 2% more heating or cooling to the zone that needs it every 2 minutes.
To distribute more heating or cooling upstairs, the upstairs damper fully opens and the downstairs damper partially closes, forcing more heating or cooling to the upstairs zone. To distribute more heating or cooling downstairs, the downstairs damper fully opens and the upstairs damper partially closes, forcing more heating or cooling to the downstairs zone.
The ZCDWL system dynamically adjusts the dampers to find the right distribution of
heating and cooling to provide whole home comfort and energy savings in every season.
